Vision seeks commercial partners
Richard Wilson Vision, the CMOS imaging device company which slipped into the red in the first six months of the year, is seeking a commercial partnership to broaden the market for its products. The Edinburgh company has confirmed that it is in “exploratory discussions on the formation of commercial alliances with major industry partners”. The need to find new markets for its CMOS imager and camera-on-a-chip technology became apparent when Vision fell into a ?2.6m pre-tax loss for the six months to the end of January. The problem has been the slower-than-expected growth of desktop videoconferencing and vision-based toys, the main target markets for the firm’s integrated imagers. “We are aggressively pursuing other potential imaging applications to broaden our total market,” said company chairman James Millar.
