Philips acquisition VLSI Technology has formed a 3rd generation mobile phone chipset joint venture with Yozan of Japan.
The two firms will develop a wideband-CDMA single chip baseband integrated circuit for the next generation mobile communication systems.
The single-chip baseband IC will be developed on VLSI’s Velocity Standard Communication Platform. Yozan will supply a chip-set combining the matched filter and rake receiver technologies for W-CDMA.
