NAND capacity tightens

Toshiba’s NAND production glitch at Yokkaichi, plus Micron’s 10% cut in NAND production, will tighten NAND supplies and could affect Q3 contract pricing,  reports TrendForce.

NAND capacity tightens

Yokkaichi had a 13 minute power outage on June 15th and is taking longer than expected to fix.

Western Digital says that 6 exabytes of NAND wafers were affected.

TrendForce suggests that NAND suppliers could use the curtailed capacity pretext as an excuse to ask for better contract prices in Q3.

TrendForce predicts that 2D NAND prices could rise in Q3, and that 3D NAND prices could fall at a slower rate. High inventories of 3D NAND prevent too large a movement in the 3D NAND trend.
